General Dental FAQs

Where is Metcalf Dentistry located?

Our office is located on the South Hill at 2829 S Grand Blvd, Suite 301, in Spokane, WA 99203. We welcome patients from across Spokane and the surrounding communities.

What are your office hours?

We are open Monday through Thursday from 7:30am to 3:30pm. Our office is closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Early morning appointments make it easier to fit dental care into a busy work or school schedule.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes. We love meeting new patients and families. Visit our New Patients page to learn what to expect, and complete your paperwork ahead of time on our Patient Forms page to save time at your first visit.

Do you accept dental insurance?

We accept all dental insurance plans and will bill your insurance company for you as a courtesy. We are also a preferred provider for Aetna, Sun Life Financial, Asuris Northwest Health, Delta Dental Plans, and Regence Blue Shield. Learn more on our Financial Options page.

What payment and financing options do you offer?

We accept cash, personal checks, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and CareCredit financing. Gift certificates are also available.

How often should I visit the dentist?

Most patients benefit from a checkup and professional cleaning every six months. Some patients with gum concerns, dry mouth, or a higher risk of decay may need more frequent visits. Regular preventative dentistry helps catch problems early, when treatment is simpler.

When should my child have their first dental visit?

Dr. Michelle Metcalf recommends bringing your child in when their first tooth erupts. Early visits help children get comfortable in the dental chair and allow us to spot concerns early. Learn more about our children’s dentistry.

Can I get a crown in just one visit?

Yes. With our CEREC CAD/CAM technology, we design and mill tooth-colored ceramic crowns in our office, so most patients receive their permanent crown in a single appointment with no temporary crown.

Do you offer sedation for anxious patients?

Yes. We offer conscious oral sedation dentistry for patients with dental fear, a strong gag reflex, difficulty getting numb, or extensive treatment needs. Your vital signs are monitored throughout your visit, and you will need someone to drive you home.

What options do you offer for straightening teeth?

We offer Invisalign, ClearCorrect, and Six Month Smiles. Dr. Metcalf will review your goals and recommend the option that fits your smile and lifestyle.

How can I replace missing teeth?

Depending on your needs, we may recommend dental implants, dental bridges, or full and partial dentures, including implant-supported and Valplast flexible partials.

What cosmetic dentistry treatments are available?

Our cosmetic dentistry services include Zoom teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, and dental bonding to brighten, reshape, and repair your smile.

Are digital X-rays safe?

Digital X-rays use significantly less radiation than traditional film X-rays and produce high-definition images that help us find problems that cannot be seen with the naked eye.

Is it safe to see the dentist while pregnant?

Yes. Routine dental care is safe during pregnancy and important for both you and your baby. Hormonal changes can increase the risk of gum problems, so we encourage regular visits through our pregnancy care services.

Do you provide oral cancer screenings?

Yes. We perform oral cancer screenings as part of your routine care. Early detection makes oral cancer much easier to treat.

What should I do if I have a dental problem between visits?

Call our office at (509) 747-4242 as soon as possible. Our team will ask about your symptoms and help you get the care you need.

How do I schedule an appointment?
